THE ULTIMATE BEEF JERKY

THE ULTIMATE BEEF JERKY

This jerky is AAAAAAAAAmazing . Lets do a little math if you buy a bag of jerky your gonna pay roughly $32 a lb which is way your paying $6 bucks a bag for what 4 or 5 ozs ... my husband and sons love jerky but at the rate they eat it I would need stock in the company to buy as muchas we make . Our local grocer offers buy one get one sales usually on sundays so I buy 2lbs of roast beef usually for $9 to $10 and get the 2nd 2lbs free so its 4lbs of meat london broil for pretty cheap !!!! If u have deer in your freezer the recipe is the same and the meats freeeeeeeeeee  !!!!  Intially the process is time consuming but you get the hang of it .

WHAT YOU WILL NEED :

1 cup of soy sauce
1 cup balsamic vinegar
1 cup Worcestershire sauce
4 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
4 1/2 tablespoons steak seasoning rub
4lbs London broil roast, thinly sliced along the grain
tabasco sauce (to taste.. more for spicy less for just a little kick)
1 package kaboob sticks

                                                                     DIRECTIONS:

In a lg bowl combine all of your liquid ingredients , then the steak rub, tabasco , and finally add the meat . Stir really well and refridgerate 2 to 3 days stirring atleast once a day . On the day you decide to cook your jerky move one oven rack to the lowest bar ... and remove the top rack so it doesnt get warm . Preheat the oven to 180 degrees . Get out your largest cookie sheet and cover it with foil , then place the removed rack on top of the cookie sheet , all you need to do is place the thin slices of meet on the kaboobs sticks til the stick is full and then place it long ways on the rack . When your rack is full of kaboob sticks , place it in the oven for about 4 1/2 hrs you'll now its done when you pull on the meat n theres no give . Really this is easy and well worth the time !

ITS A TEA PARTY ... begining with brain storming

For my daughters tea party we've decided to do stations , Ive selected 3 stations . The first station will be princess glitter face paint , the second station will be decorating foam photo frames with foam letters and decals and the third will be bead braclet making . I choose these activities because they are inexpensive and are specific to little girls in the age group we will be inviting .Im going to try and keep a running total so you can see exactly what this party will cost .

FACE PAINT :

I googled cheap princess face paint and found some on ebay , the entire kit is $10 plus $ 3 to ship
I'll use 3 seperate card tables we already have to set up my stations and I'll buy 3 $1 table covers from deals to cover them in different colors to go with our theme .

FOAM PHOTO FRAME :

For these I purchased foam photo frames in an 8 pack ( I bought 2 packs) costing $1 a piece again at deals .
I bought a bucket of princess foam decals from patcatans for $ 7.99
We will be sending everyone a picture of themselves included in their thank you cards to be put in their frame to remember this special day .

BEAD BRACLETS :

I already had a braclet kit for girls laying around in our craft supplies but originally I paid $ 4.99 for it from ollys. I'm pretty sure I will be able to get the string at patcatans though at this point I cant tell you the price .

These stations will provide fun filled MEMORABLE activities for the girls , and 2 out of 3 of the stations can be completed by the kids on their own giving them a sense of independance . I'll be enlisting the help of a few of my craftiest friends for the face painting table =)

HUCKLEBERRY LEMON SCONES

HUCKLEBERRY LEMON SCONES

Lets talk scones =) ok so we loved the scones , but if your expecting your average run of the mill scone these are not it ! First and foremost normally scones are harder than these were (yes i followed the recipe) secondly these are very moist so they dont flake , that didnt bother us we loved them . These make for an amazing breakfast dish served along side some fresh fruit and yogurt .

WHAT YOU WILL NEED :
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 3 tablespoons white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 6 tablespoons butter

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest

    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
    2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter and lemon juice until evenly mixed and slightly crumbly. Whisk together the eggs and half-and-half in a small bowl; add 3/4 teaspoons lemon zest with the egg mixture to flour mixture, and mix gently just until well blended and forming a dough. Fold in the huckleberries.
    3. Divide dough in half, and on a floured surface, shape each half into a ball, then flatten slightly. Cut each round into six wedges; place on prepared baking sheet.

    crock pot seafood fondue ...

                                                                  SEAFOOD FONDUE

Ok so first of im choosing to post this recipe in hopes of some suggestions ... though the fondue was good it was not great . It liked spice really but I cant put my finger on just what it needs , the ingredients mix together amazingly well so i think with just the right pinch of this n a little of that this would be a real crowd pleaser !

*** fondue*** is meant to be served and warmed in a fondue pot , I choose to prepare mine in a crockpot because that made it so much quicker . I would transfer the cheese to the fondue pot when its finished for displays sake !

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED
1 package processed cheese food (velvetta )
    1container jarlsberg cheese

    garlic powder to taste
    1 tomato diced

MEXICAN PIZZA ... ready set table in 15 mins

                                                                   MEXICAN PIZZA

All I can say is what a neat way to bring the whole family together , and literally enjoy a homemade meal in less than 15 minutes !!!! This recipe is very basic and I tweeked it to fit what my family enjoys and it would be easy enough for you to do the same !

                                                              WHAT YOU WILL NEED
2 boxes of flat round corn shells
    1 can sliced black olives
    1 can refried beans
    1 cup chopped green onion
    1 package shredded sharp cheddar
    1 package shredded mozzarella
    1 tomato diced
    2 cans chicken breast
    1 jar spicy cheese
    paprika
    1 8oz container of sourcream

    (for the mexican pizza sauce)
    1 small jar tomato paste
    1 cup of ketchup
    1 package of mexican seasonings
    1/2 cup of salsa

                                                            DIRECTIONS
For this recipe your gonna need to heat up your broiler , I turn mine to high .Before you begin mix your sauce ingredients together in a seperate bowl and set aside . Then mix your canned chicken and about half the jar of spicy cheese together in a bowl and try to press out some of the larger chunks , sprinkle with paprika . Open your box of flat shells and spread half the shells on the cookie sheet ... its time to start building your pizza . Spread a spoonful of refried beans on the bottom of each shell , then about an icecream scoop size amount of the chicken and cheese mix on top of the beans . Place a second shell on top of the pizza and spread a spoonful of your pizza sauce on top . Cover the top with a mixture of both cheeses . Broil til the cheese is brown .  Let cool a few minutes and then top with sourcream , green onion , olives, and tomato . Serve with the remaining spicy cheese for dipping sauce . ENJOY

    Buffalo Bleu Cheese Alfredo

    BUFFALO BLEU CHEESE ALFREDO

This is a meal I had at a local restaurant and decided to come up with my own recipe , shockingly this is a very simple very quick meal ! It is not exactly light in calories though so if you are watching what you eat may I suggest skipping lunch to save yourself a few extra points . As you can see i served my alfredo along side a seafood stuffed clam shell and texas toast , the restaurant served this dish with different sides this isnt the kind of pasta you want to get cold so I would avoid sides like salad or anything you eat first letting the dish sit and cool . Even though it seems like a very adult dish my children really enjoyed it , this is the kind of thing I would reccomend for those nights when your just sick of the usual .

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED
1 package of pasta (fettucini or angel hair)
2 cups of half n half cream
1 cup of regular 2% milk
    1/3 cup of flour
    1/3 cup of grated parmesan
    1 stick of real butter
1 bottle creamy bleu cheese dressing
1 bottle redhots buffalo wing sauce
12 fried chicken strips (I made my own but you can also use store bought)
    1 diced tomato
and parmesan cheese and or parsley  to taste (for topping your pasta)

    DIRECTIONS
Boil your pasta , and set aside . In a large sauce pan add in all of your liquid ingredients(except your hot sauce) and stir over medium heat , add in your stick of butter add allow time for it to melt , add in your flour and parmesan cheese and stir briskly so that you dont get any clumps . Continue to cook over medium heat for an additional five minutes sauce will thicken upon standing . While thats cooking take your chicken strips and dip them into your hotsauce draining the excess . Now plate your pasta pour your freshly made bleu cheese alfredo over the pasta , place several chicken strips on top , follow with a few pieces of the diced tomato , and sprinkle with the parmesan and or parsley to taste . Quick simple and amazingly delicious !!!!

mommy made memories: ALWAYS THE LIFE OF THE PARTY

    A SNACK BUFFET

This was a huge success at my daughters 6th birthday , and since everyone has asked me about it , I decided it would be our first PARTY post ! I am a big birthday party person ... my husband and I have 3 little kids at home so I think allowing them to have special days planned specific to them is an oppurtunity to make memories that last a lifetime . Jaylynns favorite things are marshmallows , chocolate , and cupcakes so thats what i used as a basis for setting up my menu . Use a theme it helps you to not over spend and to stay on point . This buffet was made up of chocolate dipped strawberrys , chocolate dipped marshmallows using pretzel sticks instead of toothpicks , a "chex mix" made up of her favorite things , random color themed candies and bear at the beach cupcakes (whos recipe you can find on our blog) ... I decorated the table with decorations i had picked up at our local dollar store , including the cupcake tower !!!! I made a few signs to add a personal touch to the buffet and set out heart covered ziploc bags so the kids could take some home (parents too) it was easy set up , easy serve , and easy clean up and that in my book is what makes a birthday party great !!!!!

Baby Pizza Rolls ... Quick , Easy, and oh soooo GOOD

    BABY PIZZA ROLLS

I just wanted to share my own kiddo pleasing Baby Pizza Rolls recipe with all of you , this recipe idea came out of sheer need ... i didnt have the the things i needed for regular pizza rolls nor did i have the time to make homemade dough . So in sheer desperation I invented my own bisquit based pizza rolls , and to my suprise these 20min to table rolls were an instant family favorite over the original recipe which used to take me about 90mins!!!! (on a side note I think these would also make great finger food at your next party)

    What You Will Need :
2 cans of cheap bisquit dough (10percan)
    1 package of pepperoni
1 package of deli sliced provolone
(to punch it up for adults also try sliced colby-jack)
    garlic powder
    sweet basil
    italian seasoning
    butter spray

    Directions :
Pre heat your oven according to the bisquit dough directions. Spray your lg cookie sheet with butter spray . Open the bisquits and place them evenly on a cookie sheet as if you were just going to make them as you always would .Take a slice of your cheese fold it into fourths and place one fourth of each slice on each bisquit . Now on half of your bisquits place 5 slices of pepperoni on top of the cheese . Take the remaining bisquits without pepperoni and place them on top of the bisquits with pepperoni (do not press them together yet) Sprinkle a little of all 3 seasonings on top of your bisquits , be slightly generous with the garlic powder . Finally pressing firmly down with 3 fingers press the rolls together but do not seal them . Bake them at the regualr bisquit time . We serve ours with tiny caraffes of garden pasta sauce and ranch dressing .
    ENJOY
